High Altitude Lakes

Big Lakes get a big title! If you're heading to the mountains, make time for the trio of gems: Lake Alpine, Utica, and Spicer. These aren't just lakes—they're full-day experiences. Hike the scenic trails around Lake Alpine, then kick back with a cold beer and live music at the Lodge. Prefer water over walking? Take a boat out on Utica and let the breeze do the rest. Whichever one you choose, you're in for a day well spent.

We’re Tracking

Excuse us while we chase fresh tracks at our local favorite—Bear Valley Ski Resort. Whether you're carving double blacks or just learning how to pizza and french fry, there's something for everyone. The terrain ranges from heart-pounding steeps to mellow beginner runs, so no worries if you're new to the mountain. And when it's time to kick back? The newly restored bar is the perfect spot to après with a brew and watch the action unfold.

Lake It Easy

Suit up and set sail on the sparkling waters of New Melones Reservoir—a vast aquatic playground made for wandering and splashing. Just beware: sunbathing snakes aren’t uncommon under that bold California sun. And mind your toes... the ghost town of old Melones still rests beneath the surface, and if the stories are true, it’s got a few spooky secrets, Mafia-style.
